- A meta-analysis published in Mutation Research/Reviews in Mutation Research revealed a “compelling link” between glyphosate-based herbicides and NHL. Three of the study’s authors were members of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientific advisory panel.
- An analysis published in Environmental Sciences Europe challenged the U.S. EPA’s classification of glyphosate, stating that the EPA ignored substantial scientific evidence of genotoxicity (the adverse effect on cells’ genetic material) associated with Roundup and other weed-killing products.
Previous Studies on Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide and NHL
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) conducted a comprehensive study into glyphosate’s connection with cancer and published a report stating that the chemical is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
Another analysis, “Exposure to Glyphosate-Based Herbicides and Risk for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Meta-Analysis and Supporting Evidence,” assessed six earlier studies on the topic that focused on individuals who had experienced high exposure to glyphosate. The study’s conclusion was that this “high impact” group demonstrated a 41 percent higher risk of developing NHL than individuals with lesser or no exposure.
